Sunset at Khadakwasla

Date : 16-Jun-2006
Time : 7:00 p.m.
Location : Khadakwasla

It had been a long time since I had been to any place with my friends. And what better place than Sinhgad (and ofcourse a mandatory stopover at Khadakwasla Lake). Situated some 40 odd kms away to South-west of Pune, on top of a hill, Sinhgad is known to provide a magnificent view of sunrise from top.

"Its nearby, lets go somewhere longer.", said one. "I have been there in the mornings, very boring trek", said other. "Lets go for a night trek", said one. And the idea struck. So there were 13 of us who decided to go on a night trek to Sinhgad, with a stopover for sunset at Khadakwasla. What happened at Sinhgad is a big story and I will narrate that later. For now, lets enjoy the beauty of sunset at Khadakwasla.

The lake offers a magnificent view of the Sahyadris hills in the background. The sunsets are as beautiful as it gets. (Though the lake side is littered with waste like poly bags and stuff.)

Rajesh Pruthi seen contemplating the past, present and future of the people who have been dipping themselves in the lake.

Moment of fun between Mukesh and Rajesh.

A bhutta-wala readies his stove to prepare roasted bhuttas. This is a hot favorite here, after bhel and groundnuts.

A gorgeous view of the sunset.

My next section will cover the (mis)adventures of the "Gang of 13" at the Sinhgad fort. So watch out for this space.
